da AllOut.org : appello di Sergey Kondrashov

Il mio nome è Sergey e io sono un avvocato in Russia. Sono eterosessuale - felicemente sposato per 16 anni - e fino alla settimana scorsa non sarei certo stato chiamato un "attivista". Ma in soli cinque giorni sono stato trascinato in tribunale, multato e forse anche gettato in prigione perché ho alzato uno striscione a San Pietroburgo per dire la verità:

"Una carissima amica di famiglia è lesbica. Mia moglie ed io le vogliamo bene e rispettiamo la sua ... e la sua famiglia è uguale alla nostra. "

Sono stato tra i primi ad essere arrestato, ma altre migliaia potrebbero seguire. Mentre scrivo, i funzionari russi stanno rapidamente monitorando un piano per estendere la legge di San Pietroburgo contro la "propaganda gay" a tutto il paese.

Credo che non dovrebbe mai essere considerato illegale difendere la dignità di amici e familiari. Vuoi firmare e condividere la mia lettera urgente al primo ministro russo Vladimir Putin per chiedergli di denunciare questa legge prima del mio processo? Egli ha il potere di porre fine a questo, ma abbiamo pochi giorni per costruire la denuncia di massa che lo costringerà a prestare attenzione:

I sostenitori del diritto che avrebbe "proteggere i bambini", ma il mio arresto chiarisce la reale intenzione. Questa legge è davvero di fare lesbiche, gay, bi e trans (LGBT) scompaiono nella seconda città più grande della Russia. E non solo le persone LGBT - la legge imbavagliare la gente come me, le persone rette che hanno a cuore i nostri amici e familiari LGBT. Ora che i legislatori della Duma (il legislatore federale) stanno discutendo una versione della legge, questa legge potrebbe andare spregevole nazionale - a meno che non combatterla ora.

Il mondo, e molti dei miei colleghi russi, stanno iniziando a svegliarsi  riguardo all'idiozia di questa legge. Dall'Ombudsman   russo per i diritti umani, al presidente del Consiglio per i diritti umani, più figure dovranno prepararsi a raccontare alla Russia come questa legge è una flagrante violazione dei diritti umani. La legge viene messa in discussione nei tribunali, e sta perdendo popolarità in quanto ricorda alla gente di una parte molto brutta della nostra storia, quella di quando le persone venivano messe a tacere - o peggio la loro mente - solo per parlare . La legge inoltre rompe quasi tutti i trattati internazionali obbligatori sui diritti  di cui il nostro Paese fa parte.

Ecco perché mi appello alla persona  - il Primo Ministro Putin - la cui influenza sul processo politico in Russia potrebbe aiutarci ad annullare questa legge incostituzionale a San Pietroburgo, e assicurarci che non sia implementata a livello nazionale.
Registrati ora, ti è possibile quindi condividere la mia lettera al primo ministro con tutti, facciamo in modo che sappia che il mondo intero lo sta guardando:

My wife and I love and respect her … and her family is just as equal as ours."  I was among the first to be arrested, but thousands more could follow.  As I write this, Russian officials are fast tracking a plan to extend Saint Petersburg's "gay propaganda" law to the entire country. I believe that it should never be illegal to defend the dignity of friends and family.  Will you sign and share my urgent letter to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin asking him to denounce this law before my trial? Now that lawmakers in the Duma (the federal legislature) are debating a version of the law, this despicable law could go national - unless we fight it now.  The world, and many of my fellow Russians, are starting to wake up to the idiocy of this law. From the Russian Human Rights Ombudsman, to the Presidential Human Rights Council, more figures are stepping up to tell Russia how this law is a flagrant violation of human rights. The law is being challenged in the courts, and it's losing popularity as it reminds people of a very ugly part of our history when people were silenced - or worse - for speaking their mind. The law also breaks just about every international human rights treaty obligation that our country is a party to. That's why I'm appealing to the one person whose influence over the political process in Russia could help us annul this unconstitutional law in St. Petersburg, and make sure it isn't rolled out nationwide - Prime Minister Putin.
